The England team is on a tour of New Zealand these days. The first match of the five-match T20 series was played on 1 November at the Hegley Oval ground in Christchurch. England won the series by seven wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Chris Jordan took two wickets for England, while James Vince played a brilliant innings of 59 runs.
England won the toss and invited New Zealand to bat first. The hosts scored 153 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. For New Zealand, experienced batsman Ross Taylor smashed 44 runs off 35 balls. Apart from this, Tim Seifert contributed 32 off 26 balls and Daryl Mitchell contributed 30 not out off 17 balls. Martin Guptill could score only two runs. England's fast bowlers bowled well.
In reply, England achieved the target by losing three wickets in 18.3 overs. Johnny Bairstow contributed 35 and captain Eoin Morgan contributed 34 not out. James Vince smashed 59 off 38 balls. He was also voted Player of the Match. The second match of the series is to be played on 3 November.
