Yogini Ekadashi fasting story
According to the ancient sages, once Dharmaraja Yudhishthira was listening to the glory of Ekadashi fast from Lord Krishna. He said to Lord Krishna, O Lord! What is the significance of Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Aashadh month and what is the name of this Ekadashi? Lord Krishna, answering this, said, O Rajan! This Ekadashi is called Yogini Ekadashi. All the sins of a person are destroyed by fasting and worshiping the lord in a systematic manner in the entire world on this Ekadashi. The man enjoys all the comforts, pleasures and luxuries in his life and finally he gets salvation. The fast of Yogini Ekadashi is famous in all the three worlds. On this Yudhishthra said, "Lord! Hearing the importance of Yogini Ekadashi from your mouthpiece, my eagerness has increased even more, please explain a little bit about it." On this, Lord Shri Krishna said, "O Dharmashrestha! I narrate a story mentioned in the Puranas and listen to it carefully."
In the city called Alkapuri of Swargalok, a king named Kubera ruled. He was a very righteous king and worshiped Lord Shiva. Storm came, no obstacle could stop them from worshiping Lord Shiva. A gardener named Hem used to arrange flowers to worship Lord Shiva. He would go and give flowers to Kubera every day before worship. Hem loved his wife Vishalakshi very much. One day Hem brought flowers for worship but on the way he thought that if there is time for worship, why not go home. Then he took the road to his house.

After coming home, he became obsessed with his wife and began to Raman with her. At the same time, the time of worship was running out and the king was getting distraught due to the absence of flowers. Due to this, the time of worship passed and Hem did not reach with the flower, then the king sent soldiers to find it. The soldiers returned and told that he was a great queen, a great queen. He was doing Raman with his wife. Hearing this, the anger of the king reached the sky at seven. He immediately asked Hem to grab him. Now Hem trembled and stood before the king. The angry king said, 'O lowly majesty! You have disrespected Lord Shiva by working hard. I curse you that the disconnection of the woman will be tolerated and there will be leprosy in the dead.
Now with the curse of Kubera Hem Mali reached the ground floor and got leprosy. While living in heaven, he did not have the feeling of sorrows, but here on earth he was facing hunger and thirst as well as leprosy. There was no end to his sufferings. One day while wandering, he reached the ashram of Rishi Markandeya. The beauty of the ashram was seen soon. Like the gathering of Brahma, there was a view of the gathering of sage Markandeya. He fell at his feet and made him aware of his agony on Maharishi's asking. Now the sage Markandeya said, "You have told the truth to me, so I tell you a solution. Yogini Ekadashi happens on the Krishna side of the month of Ashada. If you fast it properly, all your sins will be destroyed." Now the gardener prostrated the sage and observed Yogini Ekadashi fasting according to him. Thus he got rid of his curse and he came again in his real form and lived happily with his woman.
Lord Shri Krishna narrated the story to Yudhishthra and said, "O Rajan, after receiving food for 88 thousand Brahmins, just as much virtue is obtained as by virtue of the Yogini Ekadashi fasting systematically, and fasting and enjoying happiness in this world , I achieve salvation.
